On 4/4/08 I contacted this owner to check availability of the above home for a rental for 7/21-7/28/08. This was a 4/2 home for 9 people, I was told the home was available and I needed to pay a $400 security deposit which I did. Later in the evening I received a good news/bad news call saying she was sorry but her husband had rented the home. She offered me a 3/2 home which I told her would not work. She promised to refund my deposit but it took me until 4/9 to get a partial refund. She says she is charging me a processing fee for changing my mind on the rental which is totally not true. I think this type of person gives a bad name to honest people renting vacation homes. I have since had a friend check on this same home and amazingly she was told it was available! Renters beware of this person. |

Comment: these people are crooks. They with hold deposit money under false pretences. The pool was filthy even though we had paid for it to be heated it was not we paid for the use of the bar-b-cut which was cockroach infested!!!!!!!!!! when we arrived they made us pay $150 for an extra night which we wern't having and a $300 dollar deposit which has never been returned even though we left the place spotless and!!!!!!!!!!!!! they make you wash your bedding before you leave even though we had paid extra for the place to be cleaned!!!!!!!!! be warned........... do not give them your custom, its a long way to go to be so poorly treated!!!!!!!!!! we visited between 25.07.08 and 09.08.08

Subject: Security Deposit and rental
Comment: We rented a house from these people and it was a problem from the start. After we had received an invoice and paid our deposit they kept trying to increase the price. When we arrived at the house the house was dirty, the pool heat was not on and the pool was green amongst many other problems and we were unable to contact the owners for a week (we were there for a month). During the whole time we had problems with the pool which was unusuable for most of our vacation. When we returned they said they were holding part of our security deposit to pay for having the carpets cleaned - they were disgusting when we got there but didn't even send the balance to us. Be warned never rent from Homestar Vacation Homes.
