Part of the damage deposit was kept without regard to the rental agreement. Charges were made for claims of excess cleaning, late checkout, lock change and extra persons. We agreed to charges for excess cleaning, although these conditions were not clearly represented in the contract. We did not lose the keys, but left one on the property and mailed the other back to StreamRush Properties as soon as it was noticed. We had a prior understanding with the owner that we could have 10 people including 2 small children for a short time and were charged $50 without prior notice or agreement for an overnight with 10. The rest of the time we only had 6 people in a 4 bedroom house. We tried to resolve this matte through the Branson-Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, but were not successful.
Make sure you understand with Clint Kasten of StreamRush Properties what specifically is required in terms of laundry of towels, floor cleaning, dusting, etc before you commit and give them a deposit. If you expect to have an extra person for some time of your stay make sure they tell you what it will cost. If you happen to leave one of the keys on your key chain and send it back, expect they will claim they changed the locks and charge you $85. Don't expect to get all of your deposit back because they will very likely find some excuse to keep some of your deposit. Also, don't expect the ice maker to work, or the BBQ to be usable without considerable cleaning. |
