We rented this property for a week in September 2010. From looking at their website, we knew this would not be the most luxurious beach house, but in reality it was not even close to acceptable. Here are just a few of the issues that we had.
First off, there is no concrete under the house where you park your cars and the sand was muddy. The neighbors said that we were the first people that they know of that didn't get their cars stuck. When we arrived, the A/C had been shut off and it took almost 15 hours for the house to cool down. It was so excessive that we had to go buy a fan to sleep.
Two days into our trip, there was a rain storm and that is where the house took a turn for the worst. We had two roof leaks that leaked water on one of the beds. There was clear water damage that was already existing so we knew that this wasn't a new issue. In addition, there were 5 windows that were leaking water, a pool of water that leaked through the back door, and a window that wasn't sealed and the wind howled through. The owners sent a roof repair man out to the house who did nothing to resolve the issue.
A second phone call and corresponding voicemail to the owner was left unanswered. We had requested a partial refund, but they have yet to answer that phone call / voicemail either.
Here is a more complete list of the rest of our issues:
Front Door was difficult to open/close
Roof leaks water (x2)
Patio Door leaks water
Windows leaked water (x5)
Window leaked air (Whistled)
Dish Washer didn't work
Washing Machine was very dirty
Bed Sheets had holes in them (2 tops)
Pillow had mold on it
Trashcan broken
Shower door didn't stay closed
No remote for DVD player
Screw sticking out of the wall upstairs (Hazard)
A/C vent covers missing
Bar lights were burnt out & plastic broken
No decent place to park cars
A/C was turned off when we arrived |
