This was a VRBO disappointment. There were stinkbugs and mosquitoes in the bedroom and kitchen. The house was dirty and dusty. All of the closets smelled of smoke. The remodeling work was of poor quality and finishing work remained to be done. Paint was peeling, fixtures were rusting, a switch panel turned hot whenever we turned the light on, and the toilet seat was too small for the large toilet. It takes a while to get hot water. All the IKEA furniture is poorly assembled. When we let Boaz know that an inset light fixture was dangling from the ceiling over a bed, he said it wasn't a safety hazard. The second bed was bare and crammed into the room. The rental unit downstairs was also noisy and separated by a door that doesn't close all the way. This is an old building remodeled on the cheap with poor maintenance and housekeeping. It's located on the border of a poor African American neighborhood but was close to the Capitol South Metro Station. The grocery store that Boaz recommended was barred on the windows and doors and resembled a corner store out of East Central L.A. Next time, we'll put our $300/night to use in a nicer part of DC, such as northwest DC.
