2. Manager Rented property to someone else, withheld $100 refund

I rented a home from Vacaton Home Rentals (for 7/20/2007, secured it using a credit card. Before arriving to location, at the airport getting ready to get on the plane, I was informed that the home was rented, they did not expect US (a basketball team) until 7/21. The manager (Rod) said it was their mistake and they would put us up in another rental for the night, the move us the next day. Rod never went with us to the house, just gaved me the access code, (it was late in the morning Vegas time about 12:30 am) The house was not ready for occupancy and had roaches, a hole in the wall, the rug was dirty, the daybed was on the side, some blinds were torn. I called Rod immediatly to complain and let him know this was unaccetable. I was told that house in vegas have roaches. LOL. I then drove to the property I had requested and found people were in the home. I then decided to take the team, 8 boys and check into the Las Vegas Hilton for the night. I called the next day 7/21 and let them know how I felt and wanted a refund. I was told they would have the original property ready at 3. I had to call them around 3:30, of course they did not call me. I was told that he would have to put us in another house, I said no, you are in breach of contract, just give me my money back. I paid $2285. He agreed. I picked up the money, a cashiers check, for $2185, that was stuck in the door of the office. The information inside, was the credit card authorization form, that listed all the fees i was charged, and written in pen, a new fee of $100 for meeting us at the office late. LOL, LOL.

I had been in contact with this guy from the time I filled out the lease information until the time I stepped on the plane, he was informed that I would be coming in late, NO WHERE and AT NO TIME, did he ever MENTIONED a fee for meeting late. THEY are incredable. I have requested the $100.00 back. A basketball team does not have money. Plus we had to go above the budget when I had to get the boys rooms permanently at the LAS Vegas Hilton.

I was told; " You should be happy you got a refund"

4. Movie House Vacation Rental

We contacted the number listed to reserve a house in Las Vegas, Nevada. The problem started immediately. They quoted us a price of $496 including the $100 non refundable cleaning deposit. After the receipt of the payment they told us the price did not include the cleaning deposit and that we had to send them an additional $500 deposit plus 100 cleaning. We had not choice as the reservation was not cancellable. They refused to take any credit cards or PayPal.

They called us the night before and advised us that they had double booked the home we were in and they wanted to move us further from the strip. We agreed so long as we were not charged any extra and asked them to shut the pool heater off because we did not want to pay any extra. They agreed.

When we arrive our code did not work. After resolving that issue the garage door closure had exploded all over the floor, the wall and the garage floor leaving a nasty grease odor. Additionally the house was 85 degrees and the cooler was not working.

The owner arrived at MIDNIGHT unannounced looked at all the grease but did not even bother to clean it up. Then he was rude about fixing the AC unit. We were left to clean up their mess.

When we left we cleaned the house and left it in better shape then it was when we arrive. They have advised me that they are holding by $500 deposit because the pool heater was on too high. They left the pool heater on, not us. Not one of us their touched it or even knows where to look. We had no lease agreement in reference to a pool because we did not rent a property with a pool they moved us because of an error on their part. Moreover, WE NEVER touched it.

There is a lot more to this but you asked for brief.

8. Dont Rent Quail Avenue, LV property from Charles Wiebe, Astoria Estates

UPDATE #2:
Since my last update I have found Charles Wiebe has had several complaints at the BBB. Before renting please check the NV Better Business Bureau at http://southernnevada.bbb.org/checkbusinesscharity.asp
Please type in Charles Wiebe's name.
You will see he received a F rating and most of his complaints are for not returning deposits.
---------------------------------------------------
UPDATE #1:
Since first posting this, I have had several people contacting me with the same type of issues. In addition, he advertises under several websites and names so I have tried to add them. I encourage all those scammed by any of his companies to post to this website in order to save others from his shady business practices.
----------------------------------------------
When we arrived at this home there was an RV in the private gated parking . The rental owners lived in the RV on the property and worked out of the back room and garage of the main rental home calling it their office. They also use the restroom in the laundry facilities of the main home when in their office. They never mentioned this in our communications.

In addition, they come in and out of the back yard whenever they want unannounced.Talk about creepy! Having strange men in the home and in your yard when you have your family and young children in the pool. They had no respect for privacy and were in our business unannounced whenever they wanted.

In addition, the second house had no curtains whatsoever and we had to ask them to hang something so the women could change comfortably. It is obvious that they live out of both homes, especially the second smaller house.

In addition, Astoria Estates (Charles Wiebe), said their partner Wish List Las Vegas (Jay), were wedding planners so we hired them for that. We ended up doing everything ourselves. Things they promised and were in the contract, were mysteriously canceled or unavailable two days before the wedding. It didn't seem that these Jokers had ever been to a wedding before, let alone planned one. In addition, they made us shut the wedding party down at midnight. They did not tell us upfront there was a 12am curfew, and we started our wedding so late in the evening that the party had to end early. It was very disappointing.

To top off this whole thing, we ended not getting our deposits back. We booked these two homes on the same lot with a security deposit, cleaning deposit and pet deposit as stated on the contract.Months later after continuing to call and email to get our deposit back, the home owners finally replied. They said we were not suppose to have pets and the wedding had caused damage that they had to clean up. This was all complete BS. The pet deposit and clause was stated in the written contract, and we thoroughly cleaned after the wedding because we knew they would not do anything. We repeatedly asked for receipts for repair, pictures or the damage, anything to prove this but never received anything. Finally, 4 months later out of a $900 total deposit, we received a check for $220. They said the $20 was for interest as one last slap in the face.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Just Do yourself a favor and do not rent or do business with Charles Wiebe and Astoria Estates.

9. Mini-Castles are overpriced track homes that are not worth the money!

Mini-Castles are overpriced track homes that are not worth the money!
I rented this home for my friends and I during our last convention. First off I was informed by the woman that rented me the place that it was close to the strip, and it was less than 1 mile to Las Vegas Blvd, BUT what she didn’t say was that it was 7 miles out of town and in the boonies. (Here is the address for you to look up on Google maps. 208 East Levi Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89123 http://maps.google.com/ Please look at the satellite and drive by prior to renting any rental. It took over 49 min to drive 10.8 miles to the Sands Convention center. We spent most of our time driving to and from the convention but that wasn’t the worst of it…). The homes were oversized track homes with no yard or landscaping to speak of but that is not my complaint. The woman billed the property as a mansion and the “nicest home in Vegas” and was charging $2500 a night. I looked online and found no complaints so I booked a week. As we arrived at the property it was dirty, dingy and disgusting. We ended up having to buy our own sheets and blankets (It was like staying a grandma’s house but not in a good way.) This was not a good place or value. BTW I think that she lives in the home at the end of the court watching people on hidden video cameras. I would highly recommend that anyone considering renting here DON’t.
