Terrible experience with Easy Street Vacation Rentals, Destin, FL
|
|
|
This is an irresponsible and dishonest rental company. They will deduct your security deposit from beach sand in the house floor, to pet hair; above and beyond all the expensive cleaning and pet fee. When we stayed in one of their damn houses, they never responded our calls for non-functioning dishwasher and already broken pool lamp. My daughter got a cut by the broken lamp in the pool, and they accused us broke the damn lamp. Guess what, yes, they charge us the lamp too. We stayed for 4 days, and never got a call returned from them. When we got home, they sent a letter indicates $400+ of our deposit has been deducted.
These are what they charged us:
Bath room tower hanger $50
Garbage - $50 (duh, are we supposed to bring the garbage with us home)
Beach sand - $50 (didn't we already pay $300 cleaning fee)
Pet hair - $60 (pet fee is $160 for 2 dogs)
Pool Lamp - $147 (already broken when we got there, called management, they never return call)
Overuse Pool, thermo set to 100 degree F - $75 (damn you, we paid $45/day for the damn pool, and we had to stayed away from the pool since the first time we used it because my daughter got cut by the broken lamp in the pool).
1. Pool light safety issue: when our kids got into the pool the first time, one of the boy stepped on a piece of glass. No biggie, kids let parents know and started trying to pick up some other broken pieces themselves at the bottom of the pool, then collect them by the pool because they really like to have a pool to play. One of our parents called the owner immediately, owner came and, instead of closing the pool and calling an immediate service, he started to accused us, said we should not bring glass to the pool. We were totally stunned, and of cause we told him those glasses pieces were in the pool before we got here, but he obviously did not believe us. Since the owner came to check and saw nothing wrong with the pool, we allowed kids to play in the pool again the next day (huge mistake, we should have called police immediately and charge the owner with attempted murder), and this was when my daughter got a cut by the broken light still mounted on the pool wall while she climbed out of the pool. Bloody feet, wound was about two inches wide, and you could almost see the bone. I have a photo I wish I could show you.
We called the owner about the bleeding injury, and he would not return our call. It was the Thanksgiving day and he said he was with his family, while we were trying hard to stop the bleeding, and worrying if we should go to hospital if the bleeding wouldn’t stop, where could we find a hospital …. If you are running a people business and provide service, it is your obligation to ensure your customers are safe no matter when it happens. Was the owner not irresponsible? How dare he accused our kids broke the light without a bit of sympathy.
Owner said the pool was serviced every week. Is the service company licensed? Does someone actually touch the pool light, since the lights were submerged under water, and check whether it is still intact? I would like to request the information of the service company, and pursue a legal action.
2. Pool usage: The owner did set the pool temperature to 90 degree for us (at least there is something to be thankful). But somehow he set it up the way that pool would start to work and warm up at around 10:00 AM in the morning and stopped at sometime (may be 4:00 PM) in the afternoon. What in the world he decided to turn on the pool while most people were out to the beach, and leave a pool of cold water when we had time to enjoy in the night? Is that stated in the contract also? How dare he accuse us for setting the pool temperature to 100 degree. We totally stopped using the pool after my daughter’s injury. That’s the second day of our total 4-days stay.
3. Black pet hair: this is the biggest lie and actually made us laugh. Two dogs were with us, one is all white golden doodle, and the other is brown and white border collie. We have whole bunch of photos to prove it. Busted.
4. Towel rack: this could potentially be another safety issue. When the rack fell off on the first day we arrived, we examined the rack. It was glued on to the wall where there is an old big hole, which I supposed should be a screw in there, but there is not. The rack could have fallen on anyone who uses it and causes injury.
5. Sand in the house: this must be a joke, the house is not right on the beach, it is about 200 feet from the beach, how far does it take to shake off all the sand on your shoes? If there is sand in the house, it is minimal. Is $300 cleaning fee not enough to hire someone to vacuum, and so charge us for extra $50? What was the expensive cleaning company they use? is the owner telling us not to go to the beach, or he is indeed greedy?
6. Excessive garbage: when we left, all garbage were bagged. Two bags were left in the kitchen because the garbage can outside was full. We even separated the recyclable garbage in owner’s recycle bin. Again, what kind of cleaning service do they use? Does it take extra $50 to move 2 bags of garbage? Is the owner telling us we better take the garbage with us home? Or is he just greedy?
7. Dishwasher: we never got to use the dishwasher because it was broken, and we had to wash all dishes by hand during our stay. Several of us had tried many ways and it just wasn’t working. The owner seemed to be very sick of getting lots of our calls for help, but he just simply decided he wasn’t going to show up and help his customers. This is how they treat their customers?
They are in the robbery business. Greedy owner.

Don't Stay Here!!!
|
|

BE WARNED!!! This establishment (if you can call it that) is the worst place we have ever stayed. They guy who owns these buildings, Adam Dash, is a crook. We rented out the Floridian, The Sunset, the Hammock, the Beach House, the Dolphin and the Oceanbreeze.
To begin with we booked these units, among others in his compound and his manager on duty totally double booked us and when I addressed this issue with Adam, he acted like it was our fault and there was nothing he could do for us. He definitely has an attitude and should not be in the hospitality business. He did remove the people who were in there to make space for us, but definitely made sure to let me know he had to go through a lot of work to do this (even though it was his screw up to begin with). He tried to make it up to us with gift baskets in the room, which was nice, but the rooms were filthy, there was dog hair and pubes on the floor. He grossly over sold the rooms b.c. the price we paid was higher than what is listed on this site and he crammed us into our rooms like sardines.
When we got there the rooms did not have enough pillows, sheets, or towels. In the rooms like the Floridian and Beach House he told us we would be comfortable on roll-away beds - these were not rollaway beds...they were cots that were from 1920 and the legs were broken, so we had people sleeping on the floor which was disgusting (mind you we were in Miami for a business meeting). When we addressed this through email b.c. HE NEVER ANSWERS HIS PHONE, he was agitated with us. He basically said he thought he was being nice by giving us gift baskets, but he did that b.c. he screwed up in the first place and we obviously wanted a clean place to stay with beds that weren't on the floor.
The pullout bed in the Floridian is broken ( he claims you can sleep 6 in there, but there is no way b.c. there is only one bed. Also, there was a mouse that crapped all over the counter in the Floridian and ran across the table one night while we were having drinks.
There is no one on site (except a guy who doesn't speak english) to help with anything, so if you need something no one will help you, plus Adam will not answer his phone and his voicemail is always full. On top of everything he didn't refund us our full security deposit that he had been holding on to for 2 months..... he claimed that he had to replace locks b.c. some people took their keys with them on accident and when asked if they should send them back, he said "don't worry about it, I won't charge you" and then he charged us $50 per lock. He should of refunded us some $ b.c. there were people sleeping on the floor and we had some people who couldn't make it on the trip at the last minute, and thank goodness for that b.c. there was no where for them to sleep, but we still paid for these people - he should've refunded some of our $ b.c. these places were such crap holes.
Here are tips for booking if you dare stay there:
The Floridian only sleeps two (not 6)
The Dolphin only sleeps two (not 4)
The Ocean breeze is a studio that has a bed and futon, but comfortably should only sleep two
The Hammock only sleeps 4 (if the pullout bed is not broken)
The Beach House only sleeps 4 (not 6-8)
Adam Dash is the most dishonest, unprofessional liar and I would never do business with him again. IF you want your money back, DONT give him a security deposit. When we called him about the sec. deposit he won't talk to us and hangs up on us - WHO DOES THAT?!?!?!

We rented this house located in Davenport, Florida, originally owned by Laura Kowinski, of Chicago, who sold it to Gary and Ivonne Wilson, of Isle of Arran, England {UK}. We payed all our monies, at the end to Gary Wilson, via Paypal. We had paid for the pool to be heated, the last two weeks of the month of February. We had rented the house for one month. The second week we were there, he claimed that the pool cleaner had told him "there was something wrong with the pool, and that he will fix it" However, it never took place, and he lied to us.
Laura Kowinski, had forgotten to request a deposit from us, so we told him to take the money we had paid for the pool, since he never fixed it, and applied it to the deposit, which was supposed to be refunded 30 days' after we vacated the property.
At the end, he refused to give us this money, and went on to say that there were stains on the carpet, and that he will use this money, to clean them. We had seen the stains on the carpet from day one, and had reported them to him, so he new all about it. We reported the case to the Attorney General's Office, but it got nowhere. They said it was a civil matter, and was referred to another agency, but we never heard from them again. We are in our late 70's. Thank You, for having a place like this for people that can no longer defend for themselves.

Dale Rampersad

Dale does not own any houses for rent, he represents the owners. This guy stole our money. The day we are supposed to move in, he calls me on my way to the airport to tell me the house was flooded by the previous renters the week before and we can not stay there, but he reserved us hotel rooms. I find the house is for sale and contact the agent who tells us the house is is in good working order and that the owner rented the house himself.
Dale Rampersad never told the owner we rented it, nor did he send the owner our $5,400.
We found a house to stay in ourselves and he was supposed to meet us and give us a cashier's check, but of course he never showed up. Now, he won't answer his phone or return our calls. This happened over New Year's 2010, as it did to (2) other families the same week who are out $5,000 each.
Please contact me for more information.
Do not rent from Dale Rampersad!!!!
