1. Waterfront Home

My husband and I rented a home through this guy who called himself an agent to the owners. We checked into the house to find that the things he promised were not there. The house was not cleaned, he didn't change the filter on A/C, after about a week the AC broke, he told us it was "our fault," he yelled and cursed and screamed at my wife, a nightmare, total nightmare.

I am no sure how this person came to be in this business, but he is without a doubt the biggest con artist in the world. He not only made our lives a living hell during our stay, he told us that it was our fault and we were the ones to blame, even so far as to calling us names.

I would really be weary of this guy, the owner has since told him not to manage his home, but to think someone could do something like this. I hear from the owner the guy even stole from him, what a shame.

Be careful!

2. USA Vacation Home

On November 4, I purchase two six bedroom vacation homes; Olivia Zuluaga was my sales representative. She was very informative explaining the detail of the home and what they had to offer me. I finally decided to purchase the two homes for my families’ annual stay in Orlando, FL. She explained to me that she would send me confirmation via email and for me to look over the package, I informed her I would not be able to look over the package until the holidays and if I had any problems I would get in touch with her. Well, my family and I was able to review the vacation package and in their policy it states we are require to pay a security deposit of $500 per vacation home. Olivia Zuluaga failed to mention this to me!! She inform me about all the discount they offered and the how beautiful their vacation homes was but never once did she mention anything about a security deposit of $500 which is due when we check-in; this is unacceptable practice. Olivia should have told me this before I gave her my credit card information. Also reading their policy if I cancel my home which I have done they are charging me a $200 per home. I spoke to Olivia via email on November 26 regarding my situation; I told her I should not be charged a cancellation fee but she failed to inform me about this policy before she booked my room. Her reply was that I should have read their company policy and procedures before I booked the room but I told her how can I read the company policy and procedures when I booked our vacation home via the phone with her. I then went on their website to see if they had any policy and procedures in regards to their vacation home, THEY DON’T! As a consumer how am I suppose to know about their policy and procedures if it is not listed on there website or if I book via the phone if it is not told to me. I was mislead, this is dishonest practice; I should not be charged any cancellation fee because I was not inform about any policy and procedures. This company sell practice needs to be investigated. I also have several email conversation between me an this sales representative apologize for not informing me but they need to be responsible for their actions.

3. Marco Island Rental, beware of owner keeping security deposit

After our family of four returned from an enjoyable vacation at this rental house, the owner sent us an extremely rude and insulting email quoting her cleaning person that the house was left an absolutely, filthy, disgusting mess. The owner did not have the courtesy to ask for our point of view. She simply told us that the house needed an additional deep cleaning, whatever that means, and that she would retain $145 of our $500 cash security deposit. The next day she sent another email stating that there were blood stains on the sheets and that she needed to retain an additional $120 to buy a new set of sheets.
It is true that we did not leave the house in pristine condition, nor did we think that we were expected to. There were some scraps of paper and dirty towels on the floor and some food in the refrigerator, but nothing was damaged or broken. We took care of the house as if it were our own, taking out the trash as directed and running multiple load of dishes and laundry. I think that the cleaning person was expecting a big tip (we did leave a friendly note) and therefore grossly exaggerated the condition of the house.
While we were there, the doorbell malfunctioned and had to be repaired; likewise with the disposal and a bicycle. The internet never did work. I think that the owner was trying to re-coup some of these expenses, or, perhaps, holding on to as much of the security deposit as she can is a routine procedure. In any case, we strongly advise anyone not to rent from this unscrupulous person.

4. Interval International

I belong to a vacation exchange company, Interval International in Miami, Florida. Our membership number is 2233280. On November 24, 2007 I recieved a call from Interval informing me that our membership expired. If I did not renew right now, I would lose the one week vacation time that I had with Interval. (They call it a Banked Week). The phone solicitor was not friendly. I told him i did not believe him, that my membership still had several years left. He told me NO. And if he hung up, I would lose my week. So I agreed to charge my Visa Card $138. That amount was posted on my card on November 27, 2007. On November 28th, I found my Interval Membership card and my renewal date is 08/22/2009. I had paid a five year plan in 2004. So I called Interval Membership and told them I was very very unhappy and upset with the phone tactics their caller used. They looked at my account and agreed that my membership had not expired. I told them I wanted the charges reversed and was told that would happen. Around December 20th I checked my Visa account again, and the charge was still there. I called Interval again. The customer representative explained it takes 30 days to reverse a charge. I told him I wanted it credited NOW. And I warned that if they did not, I would contact our state AG.
I checked my account today and the charge is still posted from 11/27/07. They are deceptive and not honest at all. I left a message with a custmer service manager to call me and no one has ever caled.

5. Vacation Rental Home in Miami Florida SCAM.

My family and I spent 10 days during the 2007 Christmas holiday at that location.
The window coverings in the bedrooms were all broken. The bathroom sink was clogged for quite a few days. The shower door leaked so much water that the bathroom floor was always flooded. The window coverings in the bedrooms were all broken. The bathroom sink was clogged for quite a few days. We complained to the owner who took it upon herself to fix the shower door. Of course, it didn't work. She was just too CHEAP to hire help. The patio umbrellas were broken. . The oven was so old and filthy we hesitated to use it.
The owner: Marianne Hernandez neglected purposely to do a walk-in of the property in the beginning of our stay and neglected to co-sign an inventory of all the items available for use. As required by law, she should have performed a joint punch list to determine the state of the Premises and the Inventory. Accordingly, we called her the day before vacating, left her a recorded message which remained unanswered. We called again the morning we were due to vacate, we only received verbal instructions to leave the keys under the door mat when vacating.
To add insult to injury, the owner accused us falsely of stealing kitchen appliances and scratching her furniture. She conveniently forgot what her house looked like before we moved in, which is: a JUNKYARD! So she conveniently went ahead and did not return our security deposit. Marianne Hernandez is a thief. Do not spend your next holiday at this junkyard unless you also want to be robbed!

6. Homestar Vacation Homes

On 4/4/08 I contacted this owner to check availability of the above home for a rental for 7/21-7/28/08. This was a 4/2 home for 9 people, I was told the home was available and I needed to pay a $400 security deposit which I did. Later in the evening I received a good news/bad news call saying she was sorry but her husband had rented the home. She offered me a 3/2 home which I told her would not work. She promised to refund my deposit but it took me until 4/9 to get a partial refund. She says she is charging me a processing fee for changing my mind on the rental which is totally not true. I think this type of person gives a bad name to honest people renting vacation homes. I have since had a friend check on this same home and amazingly she was told it was available! Renters beware of this person.

7. Disney Vacation

Our family was mislead from this company in the beginning. The website says they have homes 6 minutes from the Disney entrance. What it doesn't tell you is that they also have homes 25 minutes from the park entrance. (We were 25 minutes away.) The woman I spoke with said they were within walking distance to the shuttle! I was so happy, we thought about not renting a car. Thank god we diid. We spent a lot of time commuting. Our fliight was delayed, so we didn't get in 'till late. We had about three or four directions from the company and I mapquested the home. We got lost and ended up in the slum with bars on the windows and people on the side of the road with cases of beer. We could not contact anyone in the company, because they were closed. No emergency #! After driving around for hours, we stopped a tow truck driver, and he led us to the entrance. The name of the community was not lit up, or very clearly marked at night at all. ( We were just blocks from the barred windows.) After getting in the home was nice and clean. The woman on the phone told me she would't turn the heat on the pool untill I get there if it were her. BIG MISTAKE!!! We got ther on December30th. I called on the 31st, they could't make it, the next day was New Years. We did not get the pool heat turned on untill 1-2-08. It takes 24 hours to heat up and we left on the 5th what a waste of time! When we got home one night late from the park, the house was 60 degrees. The heat was not on and there was a cover on the thermastat. Agaian there was no emergency # to call! What a nightmare!!! When we left, we left a power cord for our camera on the cvounter. We called several times to see if they could get it and send it back. After weeks of calling with no response, they finnally e-mailed me they could not locate it! I would not recomend renting from Prestige Vacations Direct to anyone. We had a great time at Disney and will stay in the park next time and [pay the extra expense!

8. Lakeside Magic - Crescent Lakes

We rented this home from 3/4/08 to 3/13/08 in good faith.
I received a letter once home, saying they charged us for damages and losses that occurred during our stay which ABSOLUTELY DID NOT! Neither this woman (who resides in England) nor her property management team ((Trelis Vacation Homes- Trevor - 407-931-2291) can supply me with any photos of what they are insisting happened during our stay. We were 4 adults renting and my father (age 82) went into kidney failure upon our arrival to this home. We spent all of our time at the Osceola Medical Center, not at the house. What these people are doing is pretty low. My credit card has already been charged for $195 for a bathroom mug they say is missing (imagine!) $80 for a blind we supposedly destroyed and $30 for a pool netting panel. NONE OF THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED! I wish to prevent others from being taken advantage of by these people in the future. My complaint is with both the owner and the property management company who handled things. I wonder how many people they have ripped off already.

9. Stranded in Hollywood Florida

We arrived at the condominium only to be told by the staff at the building that unit owners were not permitted to rent the units on a weekly basis and we were asked to leave the premises. We were further told that the condo was in foreclosure. We were without accommodation and spent the rest of the first day of our vacation finding a hotel. We spent most of the second day of our vacation trying to get our deposit money orders back - which we did. We have tried to post reviews on the vacationhomerentals.com website three times and they won't upload the review to their site. We have tried contacting vacationhomerentals.com and they won't respond to our emails.

10. Easy Breezy Pipers III

We called the owner with concern that there wass a leak in the master bath on Wednesday and did not hear from them until the Saturday. $90 was withheld from our deposit for them having to call a serviceman to come and look. Repairs were done to the toilet (seal was replaced) and we were charged for the repairs. That is not where the leak was. We know there is an underlying problem and was trying to give her a heads up. She is encouraging people to be dishonest and not report problems for fear of damage deposit problems. Do not stay here....it was also very diry. and run down.
