Beware of Beachhouse on Gulf Coast with Pool!! Listing #5349 on Vacationhomerentals.com
This beach house, called "LaFittes Retreat" in the Morgantown subdivision of Gulf Shores, Alabama was dirty and very poorly maintained when we arrived to stay there for a week. We called the owners Dana and Willy Hill but they never returned our calls. There were also roaches, dog food on the floor and faeces on one of the bath towels. The shower was fowl and mildewed and stank ! The pictures on vacationhomerentals.com are very misleading and are probably very old. Other houses nearby were much nicer and cheaper too. So beware if you rent this place you may feel like throwing up when you arrive, we did !
The ONLY good thing about our rental was the view. Condo was very out-dated and dirty. We had a toaster (which caught fire) and a microwave replaced by the 3rd or 4th day. We were in Harbor House B1 - and it was so dirty. We spent a lot of our vacation calling Gulf Shores office about our on-going problems. (who wants the office staff in and out of the condo all week) All problems could have been prevented if the condo had been checked before our arrival. We even sent pictures of the roaches in the condo to them, and had to leave in the middle of the night (our last night) due to roaches in the BED!!! Gulf Shores was contacted (spoke to someone) and they provided no help on our last night there. We had to wake our 18 month old child and drive 6 hours home at midnight. I would never rent from them again. Please do not waste you money here or your time. Our vacation was ruined and the Gulf Shores office claims they never had bug complaints before. With their roach infestation -- that would be impossible. They never even offered to move us to a decent place to stay.
