Manager Rented property to someone else, withheld $100 refund
|

I rented a home from Vacaton Home Rentals (for 7/20/2007, secured it using a credit card. Before arriving to location, at the airport getting ready to get on the plane, I was informed that the home was rented, they did not expect US (a basketball team) until 7/21. The manager (Rod) said it was their mistake and they would put us up in another rental for the night, the move us the next day. Rod never went with us to the house, just gaved me the access code, (it was late in the morning Vegas time about 12:30 am) The house was not ready for occupancy and had roaches, a hole in the wall, the rug was dirty, the daybed was on the side, some blinds were torn. I called Rod immediatly to complain and let him know this was unaccetable. I was told that house in vegas have roaches. LOL. I then drove to the property I had requested and found people were in the home. I then decided to take the team, 8 boys and check into the Las Vegas Hilton for the night. I called the next day 7/21 and let them know how I felt and wanted a refund. I was told they would have the original property ready at 3. I had to call them around 3:30, of course they did not call me. I was told that he would have to put us in another house, I said no, you are in breach of contract, just give me my money back. I paid $2285. He agreed. I picked up the money, a cashiers check, for $2185, that was stuck in the door of the office. The information inside, was the credit card authorization form, that listed all the fees i was charged, and written in pen, a new fee of $100 for meeting us at the office late. LOL, LOL.
I had been in contact with this guy from the time I filled out the lease information until the time I stepped on the plane, he was informed that I would be coming in late, NO WHERE and AT NO TIME, did he ever MENTIONED a fee for meeting late. THEY are incredable. I have requested the $100.00 back. A basketball team does not have money. Plus we had to go above the budget when I had to get the boys rooms permanently at the LAS Vegas Hilton.
I was told; " You should be happy you got a refund"

Riverfront View Executive Condo, Portland, OR

My husband and I rented this condo in the Pearl District at McCormick Pier, 810 NW Naito Pkwy, Portland, OR from Mr. John Bunn.
Upon arrival we found the condo was located directly across from a very active dual railroad track that loads cars during the night. We had to use ear plugs to sleep at night. There was no toilet paper, no hair dryer, no iron, no blankets, but worst of all, during the week Mr. Bunn entered the condo when we were not there, twice, using silly excuses for entering. While the condo was pricey and billed as "Executive class", the decor was early garage sale, with old mis-matched sheets and towels. Finally, Mr. Bunn decided to keep $100 of our deposit, blaming us for damage which we did not cause to an already damaged bedspread. Mr. Bunn admitted that he had collected from other tenents for the damaged spread. It was obvious that he was supplementing his cash income.
Beware of any condo located at McCormick Pier as you will have dozens of trains going past all day and all night often blowing their whistle and loading cars with stone. VERY, VERY LOUD.

Waterfront Home

My husband and I rented a home through this guy who called himself an agent to the owners. We checked into the house to find that the things he promised were not there. The house was not cleaned, he didn't change the filter on A/C, after about a week the AC broke, he told us it was "our fault," he yelled and cursed and screamed at my wife, a nightmare, total nightmare.
I am no sure how this person came to be in this business, but he is without a doubt the biggest con artist in the world. He not only made our lives a living hell during our stay, he told us that it was our fault and we were the ones to blame, even so far as to calling us names.
I would really be weary of this guy, the owner has since told him not to manage his home, but to think someone could do something like this. I hear from the owner the guy even stole from him, what a shame.
Be careful!

Property manager double-booked the unit I reserved, so that when I came to pick up the key, it had another person booked there. Ray Miller, owner of Friendly Isle Realty, was defensive, made every effort to blame me (even though Friendly Isle had cashed my deposit check three months earlier and I had a record of the booking for that date). Ray refused cover the difference for providing a comparable unit in the same complex from a competitor. He did provide an alternative accommodation which was much smaller, far less atmospheric, and did not suit our needs for Thanksgiving weekend. He never apologized for the mess-up, and rather blamed me, the other customer who booked the unit, and his staff.
