1. Engel & Volkers Deposit practices

I would like to warn potential renters about Engel & Volkers outrageous attempt at theft from a deposit on a villa rental in Ibiza. After a week where a group of six of us stayed in the villa for a week and left it in a near spotless condition and no damage whatsoever was caused, I received the following demand for payment from them.

Extra house cleaning: € 144,- (12 hours x € 12)
Extra pool cleaning: € 25,52 (€ 22,- + 16% IVA)
Lime cleaning inside and outside floor: € 185,60 (5 hours x € 18,- = € 90,- + € 40,- material + € 30,- transfer + € 25,60 IVA)
Kitchen drawer, transfer and installation: € 139,20 (€ 120,- + IVA)
Curtain drawstring, transfer and installation: € 104,40 (€ 90,- + IVA)

Clearly potential renters should bear in mind that Engel Volkers will attempt to extort money for unnecessary cleaning charges on top of that which should be included in the hefty rental price, and invent damage that will be billed.

2. marbella rip off!

great place until the landlord Orlando Tejedor kept a 300 Euro damage deposit for complaints regarding noise. Mr. Tejedor explained form the beginning that he will keep the deposit for 3 weeks after the place is vacated so he can thoroughly examine the premises for any damages. The place was left in a better condition then we go it in and he still kept the 300 Euro. Im sure his fraudulent practices are done consistently in order for him to rip as many people off as possible. Best look somewhere else!

3. Refusal to refund Deposit and General State of Property

On arrival the villa appeared to need a clean and a good air.
We were showed around the rooms and many of them had large windows with thin curtains. We therefore tried the shutter - which did not work and the owner tried to repair it in front of us.
Throughout our stay, there were cockroaches in the bathrooms and a smell of sewage coming from the bathroom plugs. The water in the showers was not hot. The bedding and cushions were musty and did not feel clean. The facilities in the kitchen were inadequate for group cooking. The sun umbrellas were not stable and neither were the the large statues on the terrace which nearly fell over on one occasion onto the ground below - this could have caused a serious accident. The owner advertised a path leading straight to the beach (for the "adventurous"). I am adventurous and a keen walker but this path did not even exist. There was no evidence of any path being there - only very dense shrubbery that I could not cut through.

Our party was a sensible one of 6-8 as one stayed only part of the week. We were there to celebrate a special 40ieth birthday. We all speak some Spanish and have been to Spain regularly.

The villa was a big disappointment as it failed to meet our expectations.

IN ADDITION:

The owner refused to return our deposit. He cited spurious reasons saying that it was us that had broken a shutter and that we had soiled the linen.
Infact, we washed all the linen before we left and many of the shutters were not working on our arrival.
he has declined to provide receipts of the repairs that he said were needed after our stay.
It is curious that the repairs come to exactly 400 Euro - the exact amount of our deposit.

4. www.rentinnerja.com security deposit SCAM

This holiday rental company uses illegitimate business practices to charge the 200pounds security deposit on your credit card on the top of the amount you paid for a one week rent, even if there was no justification according to the rental terms & conditions.
