1. Terms and Conditions and Extra Charges

We booked the lodge for one month after negotiating the price and agreed to send the 475 euro deposit. When they recieved the deposit they sent the terms and conditions with many hidden extra costs for the Lodge. We tried to negotiate the issues but were not able to come to an agreement. So as the terms and conditions were sent on a later stage and the deposit was provided in confidence we asked them to refund the money. They would not. This is not fair business prictaice, at least send the conditions when we were negotiating the prices if you do not have anything to hide. So we can be aware of them before we send the deposit. Or now just refund the money. One extra charges asked for 180euro for electricity and so forth. We just want other travllers to be fully aware that the villa owners are reday to catch you out and do not act in a professional manner. Watch out!!!!

2. WILD HORSES COULDN'T DRAG US BACK TO THE COACH HOUSE!

Domaine St Joseph is a private 25 acre estate containing accommodation for groups in two old farmhouses, and a Coach House (restored stables) for two people. The latter, which we rented during October 2009, adjoins the owners’ house via a courtyard. Perhaps the property’s major drawback was that the English “hosts” were inhospitable. Apart from a photocopied programme of a festival that had occurred in the region three months previously we were offered no information about the region and its attractions. The only contact we had with the owners during our thirteen day tenancy was on our arrival and departure (the latter being by chance), or when we initiated it to report a leaking bedroom roof, seek help to lock an external door, and request firewood. Although the website highlights, by photograph and text, the availability of an open lounge fire and a barbecue, we were denied firewood when we requested it. On arrival, we found the premises were pervaded by a strong, musty atmosphere, while throughout our stay we were unable to eliminate a foul odour that emanated from the toilet into the adjacent kitchen. The bed was not made up (our only such experience in years of travel in Australia, UK and Europe, and the USA) and when we queried this we were directed to a trunk of bedding in a hallway! Kitchen equipment was out of date, to use the appliances there it was necessary to juggle them around one power point, and elsewhere two light switches were faulty and loose in the wall. There was no laundry, a small bathroom basin being the means of washing clothes, while a rope strung between two trees at some distance from the house was the drying medium. And finally, it required an Herculean effort to recover our “returnable deposit” after vacating, something that had its origin in the owners’ failure to correctly interpret dates in our original request for accommodation.
By all means, visit Cotignac and the Var area of Provence in which it is located. It is a beautiful village steeped in history, and without exception the French people we met there (and notwithstanding our extremely limited grasp of their language) were wonderful. Just look beyond the Coach House for your accommodation.

3. Fraud

On April 3rd 2010, I rented an apartment for a 1-month stay in Miami Beach. I paid a $1500 refundable deposit to the agent who found me the property, Jeff Glovsky. On May 3rd I moved out but never got the deposit back. I have a contract that says that the deposit was supposed to be returned within 15 days. The owner of the apartment has also attested that I left the apartment in perfect conditions and the deposit is due back to me, but the Jeff Glovsky will simply not return the money.

I found several others who had the same experience with Glovsky. From all the reports, it looks like he's a professional scam artist.

During my stay, he also asked me to loan him $15,000 promising a quick return and interest so he could pay off a debt with some other client. Another time, he asked for a similar deal with $4,000. In both cases I declined. But I am wondering if he could be up to a Ponzi scheme.

This guy is still renting apartments and getting away with fraud. Beware!!

4. Se Loger New York - Vacation Home Rentals

Rented a one bedroom we found on vacationrentals.com which was maintained and owned by Se Loger New York. My complaint is that the apartment was not even close to what was represented. I tried to file a customer review several times and they will not post it. I don't want anyone else to go through what we went through on a special weekend. It is a fifth floor apt with no elevator. There were no blankets for any of the beds in the apartment. We were freezing. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and we were woken up at 5 am by the loading dock across the street. The price is good, but you get what you pay for. DO NOT stay here!

5. Breach of Security Deposit Agreement

The security deposit form states that the deposit will be refunded 30 days after check out unless a claims is made within 10 days of checkout. The company has breached this and refuses to return my deposit some 50 days later with a false allegation of mysterious "hidden damage" which they will not explain. I have filed complaints with the BBB and Florida Dept. of consumer services where this scam outfit is located
