This is a property that has no windows or doors on the kitchen or livingroom of the home (of course, nothing on the website or any of the rental company listings mention this) The open-air design is extremely problematic with pests and bugs on the island, staying dry, severe wind gusts on top of the mountain etc. The wind was so strong neither of us were able to sleep since arrival. We couldn't cook because the wind blew out the burner flames on the stove. We can't be in the kitchen or livingroom because of rain blowing in. The wind gusts cause the house to rattle, both in the tower and the main house. I realize the owners are not responsible for the weather, but even in the tower (which does have doors) the window and doors are drafty and noisy when closed. They don't seal entirely and the bathroom window doesn't shut at all. tThere is no escape from the elements or wind noise.
We went through three rental Jeeps. The first wasn't able to make it up the extremely treacherous hill and got a flat tire trying. The second also ended up with a flat scaling the driveway which is full of sharp rocks and poorly maintained. I was charged by the rental company for this both times as they had to come out to retrieve the vehicles.
Most problematic of all, we cleaned as much as possible, but the mold and mildew made my mom sick, so much so we had to stop by the local clinic to get her checked out. In the paperwork they say you are forbidden to use the washing machine facilities, but the towels and linens were musty and mildewed, so we had to go to the landromat. The closets and drawers are musty and moldy. This is obviously a health concern. Steps on the stairs are not attached to the railing. I discovered this when it came up and I fell. I just got a couple scrapes but someone could really get hurt. This rental is misrepresented sorely. It's dilapidated, moldy and FILTHY. Everything with metal is rusted. The furniture is dirty and smelly. The TV gets only a few channels. The DSL does not work. Good luck if the power goes out during your stay because the ONE flashlight on the property doesn't work. We had to go buy our own. The owners and manger are both difficult, bizarre people. This not the relaxing holiday I was hoping for. It's been a horrible nightmare. Very rough, stressful, and strangely, lots of work.

Security Deposit being withheld

After a stay from March 21 to March 25, and a property inspection prior and post visit, the on site manager Craig that works for Nelly Biche De Bere asked for my banking information so that the deposit of $1000.00 would be deposited the next day. This was emailed and confirmed by Nelly Biche De Bere and she also sent me an email that indicated on April 9th that she was sending our money back that day. She has yet to answer any calls, or email requests to when the deposit will actually happen. Her first excuse was that a friend had died and that she apologized for the delay. Now May 1st, there is no way that something is impeding her access to the bank as she continues to book the property where we stayed.
We stayed in Gambier at an alternate property called St. Tropez in Nassau right in front of Love Beach. We have been taken advantage of and several items in the property were not adequate, plumbing, pressure, laundry, and bed bugs in two separate beds. Though we have resisted to complain, it appears being kind is not the action required in this circumstance.
