1. Sugar Mountain Ski Resort and Dereka's Sugar Mountain Accomodations Center & Realty

We had the worst experience at Sugar Mountain. The lodge we rented was slope sider26. The plumbing went bad and the downstairs shower was flooded with feces and urine along with the toilet paper, etc. The floor was completely flooded. Instead of doing the right thing for their customer they did the complete opposite and treated all of us 8 women very rudely. We were first told we could stay in the same one that they would have it fixed that day but when I asked if they would have it decontaminated the same day the manager of the Sugar Mountain so rudely said NO and we had 30 minutes to get out. They only offered to move us to another lodge but it was not slopesider which is the view we paid for and they were going to charge us for whatever that lodge cost were. We were inconvenienced, lost our whole day on our vacation, and was threatened to have the police callrd on us if we were not out asap! When asked why we weren't getting a refund for the entire package he so rudely said why in the hell would I refund you the entire package you should have called and complained last night if you had problems. Actually we did call the night before to complain. We checked in Friday afternoon-we called that night needing things fixed; Saturday morning about 9am one of the ladies staying called because the toilet was stopped up. They sent someone to fix it and he did then said everything was fine. About 30 minutes later is when the feces and urine filled up the downstairs shower and floor. This is absolutely unacceptable from a ski resort or any place for that matter. The Manager of Sugar Mountain kept saying it's not their fault and I said and how is it our fault that we have feces and urine in our shower. We could get sick from that. Again he did not care nor did the real estate agency we rented the house from. We would not recommend anyone attending this resort!! Then he has the audacity to thank me when I returned the keys. We ended up going home because we were too disgusted to enjoy the rest of our vacation. This was a waste of money and time.

2. Unclean Vacation Home San Salvador-Bahamas

Don’t be fooled about all the great reviews. I had a very different experience with this rental house. During the last years in the Bahamas we’ve recognized, that for $ 2,500 a week for 4-5 people, we could be sure, that the rental homes were clean and well maintained. This house (Blue House, San Salvador, Bahamas) was just disgusting. The owner told us that she is very picky to whom she rent her house. The important information’s were held back.
When we arrived at the airport the housekeeper didn’t pick us up as promised by the owner.
The house was a shock. The pictures on the home page are probably years old.
Dirt (months old), dead insects, spider webs, lacking paint and many areas looked simply abandoned, the second refrigerator was so nasty and damaged, we were afraid to put food or drinks in it, stained and soiled pillows, unusable cooking pots, the roof having large gaps (easy entrance for a lot of bugs), a leaking AC in one of the rooms upstairs where 2 teen boys were sleeping (only room upstairs with AC, the leakage couldn’t be fixed within our 2 weeks vacation), ants in the bed of my younger son and the upper area looking like a construction site. Not enough we had to clean the house every day twice. Once in the morning and once in the evening due to the damaged roof. We had to deal with hundreds of mosquitoes on the floor, couch, living room tables and furniture, stairs and the open upper area. Not removing the mosquitoes (broom and swap the floor) means that we would sit and step on them, giving a lot of bloody spots. We left a message with the owner. He called back 3 days later and wouldn’t believe it (even if he was there 2 weeks before). We agreed to send a DVD with the picture we made and asked for a refund. We’ve got an unfriendly email back. No explanation or excuses about the problems with the house and the daily cleaning we had to do.
The Blue House ruined our vacation.
San Salvador is a very small island, the opportunity to move to a other house for 5 people was not possible. We couldn’t afford to cancel a $ 10,000 trip.
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOUSE FOR THIS PRICE.
Because of:
- disgusting cooking pods
- stained/spilled pillows
- cockroach/spider webs in the kitchen
- leaking and very loud AC
- no updated pictures available
- loose toilet seat in one of the bath rooms (not even this could be fixed)
- partially construction side upstairs
- overall non-cleanliness’
- no outlets in the lower, small bath room (very complicated to use a hair dryer), you need an extension cord.
- mosquitoes inside (every day removal) due to large roof gaps
- The housekeeper stays in the house. Nothing personal, but her balcony in the upper level overlooking the deck I can’t call this privacy.

There are other nice homes available on the Bahamas owned by people that tell what you need to know about their home.

3. Gatlinburg, TN

Website information inaccurate including daily rates and cancellation policy. After notifying the company 22 days prior that we may have to cancel our reservation due to unforseen circumstances we were instructed that they would put the cabin back open for availability and if someone rented it we would be refunded our money less the $50 reservation fee. We were told if we chose to let them list the cabin online again we would forfeit our reservation completely and take the chance on someone else renting the cabin. After 12 days we checked their website to see if the cabin was available and it was not. We called and spoke with a gentleman named Mike who was very rude and unprofessional. He stated that we had nothing in writing that could prove anything and they were only offering to relist it online out of the kindness of their heart. He then make the statement that even if someone had re-rented it, we would still be liable until the day that customer checked in (their cancellation would result in it being still or obligation). At this point we had paid $351.97 towards the rental for a 4 day stay. He got very angry when I asked questions and at one point told me to "shut up". He then passed the phone to a lady named Denise (who I'm assuming may have been his wife). She was very ugly and said she would hang up on me if I didn't let her talk. In actuality Mike and Denise wanted to do ALL of the talking. I pointed out to her that it was wrong to make someone forfeit their stay especially when they had promised to relist the property and they never did, therefore it never had the opportunity to be re-reviewed as available. She then told me that we could reinstate the original reservation which is something Mike insisted we would not be able to do once we confirmed with him that we wanted to cancel. To top it all off, after googling this company they have an F rating with the BBB and have had multiple complaints from unsatisfied customers such as us. In my opinion these people are very unprofessional and have no business being in the business that they are in.... or at least they need to learn some manners in hospitality and need to take a class or TWO in professionalism!

4. Victoria Park's building turned into a ghetto - where's the owner?

One of the most beautiful and quiet areas of Ft. Lauderdale - Victoria Park - is not everywhere the same. A building 1180 NE 1st Street, 33301 has many problems. The problem with ACs was eventually solved, but another still there - it is the most noisy place in whole Victoria Park. Neighbours complains they cannot sleep at night. Some tenants leave their dogs alone in apartments and this poor animals barking all night, waking up neighbours families and building's tenants.
Night on June 17, a dog was barking several hours on 2nd floor till 1:30 am. After it was over, and we thought we can sleep, some people went out on the street and have started to whistle...
Next morning people from buildings around have to go work...
Person, who suppose to maintain this building doesn't speak English and practically cannot communicate proper and perform his work. He is bringing the ghetto's culture to the building, trying to rule the local community of this building, bothering tenants for no reason, knocking to their doors... People who maintain building should know what they should do and how to do this important job not disturbing tenants.
