1. Lakeside Magic - Crescent Lakes

We rented this home from 3/4/08 to 3/13/08 in good faith.
I received a letter once home, saying they charged us for damages and losses that occurred during our stay which ABSOLUTELY DID NOT! Neither this woman (who resides in England) nor her property management team ((Trelis Vacation Homes- Trevor - 407-931-2291) can supply me with any photos of what they are insisting happened during our stay. We were 4 adults renting and my father (age 82) went into kidney failure upon our arrival to this home. We spent all of our time at the Osceola Medical Center, not at the house. What these people are doing is pretty low. My credit card has already been charged for $195 for a bathroom mug they say is missing (imagine!) $80 for a blind we supposedly destroyed and $30 for a pool netting panel. NONE OF THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED! I wish to prevent others from being taken advantage of by these people in the future. My complaint is with both the owner and the property management company who handled things. I wonder how many people they have ripped off already.

2. Dorado Puerto Rico Vacation Rental

Although as you can see the 3 reviews on this site are all good I had a very different experience with this rental owner and Townhome. The place was disgusting as far as being able to use the utensils, coffee maker, pots and pans. Mold in the refrigerator. Bugs in the townhouse that were biting us. Amenities we were told would be available were not. Linens were stained and soiled, particularly the pillows. yuk. I specifically asked if there wasa BBQ grill and yes there was but it wasso old and rusted I did not dare touch it for fear of getting ill. Barking dog in the yard next door that was left unattended 24/7 with a yard full of dog poop that smelled so bad we could not open the windows in the unairconditioned lower lever. The owner agreed to refund 1/2 of the money but never did so. We ended up leaving mid week as the conditions were so bad we could not take it anymore. We were told we were adjacent to the Embassy Suites and it was implied we could get to the beach there but this in fact was not true. This owner has denied everything and I am sure changed some of the information on her rental sites. She took us 1st time Townhouse renters for 1400. dollars. Beware.

3. Beware of 810 Yarmouth Ct. San Diego, Ca!! We were scammed!!!

My husband and I found an ad on Craigslist for a vacation rental and we talked to the owner and decided to rent this vacation rental. The owner Jennifer Prevost Gonzales sent me to a link to look at the pictures of the place and she said she has it listed on there too. It is listed under Yarmouth 1. She told me the view was of the bay and she said the place was VERY clean.
When we arrived at the rental after driving for 7 hours we were appalled at what we saw. The nice patio was really a patio that had trash all around it.
As we went up the stairs that lead to the rental unit we noticed the railing was broke and there was a big drop off of the stairs. This unit was also advertised as being right next to a nice hotel but all we saw was the back of it and it was filled with trash and huge cargo crates. This was our "bay view" it was disgusting.
the owner lives downstairs but last minute could not be there to meet us so she left the keys for us under the mat. When we got into the apartment we were even more disgusted. The place was filled with dirt. The tile in the kitchen was cracked and so dirty this place hadn't been cleaned in months. I even saw roaches. We also noticed that none of the windows but one would open up so with no air conditioning in the place it was a hot box. I then called the owner to tell her the place was not clean and she got an attitude with me and said "yes it is I was just in there in the morning." I tried to get her to meet us to talk about this but she would not tell me when we could meet and blew me off. We had a few friends meet us there to see how bad it was and took pictures and video of this disgusting place. We then decided to stay with our friends because this place honestly was not fit for humans to stay in. My husband then called Jennifer Prevost that evening and she still insisted the place was clean until my husband told her we had video and pictures of this place. Her story then changed and she said she would get a cleaning crew in the next day but we knew this place was a safety hazard and that she wouldn't fix the problems that this place had. She never contacted us after she supposedly cleaned the unit, it took for us to email and send certified mail to her before she responded by email saying the place was clean but her lease clearly says if she doesn't make the place available within 10 days which she did not do then the lease is void and the tenants get the full deposits back. She was trying also get rent for the month and keep our deposits of $1800.00 even though we never stayed there. After we made her aware of what her own lease says she offered to take the rent out of the deposit and give us back $350. So far we have not gotten a response from her after we said we want the whole deposit back.
This woman is unreasonable and thinks that this is the type of place you get by the beach for $1450 a month.
Please beware that this place is not a good vacation rental and the owner will scam you!!! We will most likely have to go to court to get our deposit back and spend more money to go back there to do this. We were moving there so that my husband who has Parkinson's could go to the VA for good medical help but instead we lost $1800.00.

4. MISREPRSENTATION OF PROPERTY

My wife & I had rented a beach house in Fort Myers Beach, FL for the month of Sept. I spoke to BytheSeaRentals, Karen Nichols, and agreed to rent a beach house by the canal. She assured me that the house had been professionally cleaned, with linens, dishes, pots & pans etc. She also told me the 2 TV’s were cable ready and had DSL connection for my computer. We also had access to a washer/dryer. She said the house was in a great location on a canal.
We arrived at the beach house and found it to be very dirty and unsafe, certainly not professionally cleaned. In fact, there were cobwebs in the corners with dead bugs caught in them. All the windows and glass doors were very dirty. The kind of dirt that has been there for a while. The electrical outlets came out of the wall when a plug was pulled. The livingroom furniture was dirty. We had to soak & wash the dishes and cooking utensils in hot, soapy water over night to get them clean. We had to sweep and wash the kitchen floor. The TV’s weren’t hooked up and we attached the cable, they still didn’t work. We complained to her and she sent her handyman over to fix them, he made several attempts to program the remote, but it still didn’t work. I suggested that he should put new batteries in the remote. He didn’t have any so I offered mine and then the TV went on! The remote didn’t turn the TV on or off - we had to do that by hand.
The stove (which I tried to clean) was so dirty with old food & grease that when we tried to cook the smoke detector went off. The next morning I tried to make some toast, again the smoke detector went off. I called her and she said that she would send her handyman. He came over and raked leaves, then left. The bedroom door that led outside had a large space between the door and the floor and lots of gecko’s had “Carte Blanch” into the unit. The house was hard to keep cool because of the space. I used a towel to block the opening. The canal couldn’t be seen from the unit, you had to walk around the littered property, go by someone else’s unit (very uncomfortable) to get to the canal. The so called patio & furniture was located on someone else’s area and not usable because of dirt. The grass & weeds were so overgrown & dirty it was hard to safely walk to the canal. Yikes!! It was the end of the canal, there was sludge caked all around it, old tires, etc. In general the house was filthy dirty not to mention the large dead bug in the bathroom. The shower was filthy as was the bed. We did have clean linens - so wrinkled we did not to use them. We found it to be to intolerable a place to live. I called her and told her we had to leave. I informed her again of all the problems and asked her for a portion of our $1,000. rent back. I feel that she grossly misrepresented the property. It was not habitable. I sent her the money (1,199.00) in good faith and did not get what I expected.
All she returned to me was the $250.00 security deposit/cleaning fee in two separate payments which I had to ask for via e-mail several times.

5. Beware do not rent 810 Yarmouth ct. San diego , Ca!! The place is a dump!

My husband and I rented this "Vacation rental" from Jennifer Prevost aka Jennifer Gonzales. She told us that it was very clean and had great views. She listed this on Craigslist but also lists it on Mission sands vacation rentals website. The pictures look great but when we arrived to this rental we were disgusted. The nice patio that they claim is so nice has junk all around it and the rental itself is a dump. The place is so disgusting dirty and there are things that need to fixed inside and out. We couldn't stay there it was so bad so we had to stay with friends as we had driven 7 hours to get to this place and we were beat. We notified Jennifer Prevost that we could not stay there and she has refused to give back our deposit even though we never stayed there and she never gave us a clean rental like she said she was.
Now she says if we continue to warn people about this and prevent her from renting it out then she will sue us for slander. What kind of person does this? She is truly a slum lord! Now we are out $1800.00 still and now she's harrassing us because we're just trying to prevent other people from going through the same nightmare. Don't rent from her she will scam you!!!

6. Security Deposit Fraud

Beware! Beware! Beware! This owner has a habit of committing security deposit fraud. We rented this place for one week. They kept our security deposit and sent us a list of falsified damages. Everything they claimed we damaged was untrue. After filing a complaint with the Attorney General we found others that have been cheated out of their deposits also. Oddly enough their damage charges were very similar to ours. The house was not clean when we arrived and the water supply was intolerable. They misrepresent the property online and they are swindlers! Stay away.
If you would like more information contact the Attorney Generals office in Vermont.

7. Do not rent a property from Sunset Fun Villas

I rented this villa from Feb 14th - March 1st 2010. Prior to renting the home, I was told it had a solar heated pool and jacuzzi that were both properly functioning. I was told that I can pay the deposit through PayPal, and he would inspect the home when we checked out, and return the deposit to us in cash. We arrive, the pool is discusting, the jacuzzi is filthy and broken and the house was nothing like we expected. He told us the pool crew would be by to fix the pool and get the jacuzzi running the next day. He provided us a key but could not provide us a lock code for the dead bolt untill he got back to his office, because he forgot it.. So we were instructed to only use the door handle lock because we were leaving to go get groceries. He said as soon as he got back he would call me with the code. We return to the house, the dead bolt is locked and he was not answering his phone. He did not answer his phone all night, we had to rent a hotel room with our neice and 3 children our first night there.. The next day he did not even appologize when he gave us the code or anything, and the "pool crew" which was actually him coming to clean the pool himself, only skimmed the pool with a net, and never turned on the jacuzzi. He later admitted the jacuzzi was broken and that if we wanted, we could go to the home he stays at around the corner, and use his jacuzzi. He also told us we could go up the street to the Ramada Inn, they didn't know the difference between guests and outsiders and use their pool.. The pool filter was also broken, so the pool remained filthy. He told us the pool was solar heated, and there was no temp control. He said it was too cold outside so the solar heater to work. Later we found the temp setting on the side of the house and the heater was turned off.. One of the bathrooms had a filthy moldy non-flushing toilet, and the shower temp never got hot enough to use, and the tub was so discusting, I bathed my daughter in the kitchen sink the whole 2 weeks we were there. The day we were checking out, he never showed up to inspect the house and return the deposit. He said he was out of town and once the cleaning crew went in and inspected the property, he would refund our deposit on the same day. I called him a bunch of times because we were driving home and the $300.00 was supposed to be used for gas and food money for the ride home. He told me the cleaning crew had nothing to do in the home because I left it so clean and he was so happy and offered us 3 free nights the next time we vacationed. He said he would deposit the money asap. I never recieved my deposit. I called him the next day, and he said he went out and got drunk so he forgot. Then he deposited it that day. The day the deposit was supposed to clear, he put a stop payment on it. He had all these false accusations against us, and we were e-mailing back and forth for days and every e-mail he made up more and more lies! He said we arrived a day early and left a day late without paying. How would we have gotten the key from him personally if we arrived early without paying him? It's bad enough we still had to rent a hotel the first night because he didn't give us the lock code! And he told PayPal we checked out on the 2nd instead of the 1st. I have documentation that the van we drove home was returned on the 2nd and I returned to work on the night of the 2nd so I would like to know how we drove from Florida to Mass in less than 12 hours? He told PayPal there were numerous of times the cops were called from complaints made by neighbors.. I contacted the police department and have documentation that there were no complaints made on the address durring our whole stay. There was only one neighbor on the one side of the house who was there for a weekend, and we hung out with her! This man is rediculous, and should not be allowed to rent his property out if he can't be honest. This is what he wrote to PayPal in the dispute.. Lmao He's suuuuch a liar! --- Dear paypal My record speaks for it self, No claim in past several months because non of my guests behaved like Ms..Kristin Decosta. Ms. Decosta's false claim is nothing but a try for covering up the number of properties she and her partner Cesar Silva stole from the villa as well as vandalism to the pool and plumbing system of my house during their two weeks stay. in my villa from Feb.14 to March 02. According to my neighbours they have often heard a series of sever screaming and violence during that 2 weeks(16 nights) stay that often force them to call the police for help. Ms. kristin Decosta booked my villa for 14 nights but she landed a day early and left the property a day late without paying. As a matter of fact, I did refund her deposit on good will but forced to reverse it after we found out Ms. Decosta and his boy friend Cesar stole number of items from the property in excess of $565, they also severely damaged the house pluming system by disposing trashes of BBQ in the toilet bowl and damaged the swimming pool furniture and other equipments of the villa. Despite my several attempts to resolve the problem ,Ms. Decosta seems to be severely uncooperative. I have also received several life treat and inappropriate phone calls from Ms. Decosta and her boyfriend which has been recorded on tape . Following is one of my peaceful letter to her: Dear Kristin On March 03,2010, just minutes after I refunded your deposit on PayPal, I was informed by service attendant that following issues have been found in your rental premises known as "Paradise" villa upon your check out on March 1st, 2010. Missing item $ Value replacement & repair cost 1- 2 sets of complete bed sheeting ............................ $270.00($135 each) 2- 1 comforter & 2 pairs of pillow cases ...................... $60.00 3- 6 Towels .............................................................. ---- NOTICE THE CHECK OUT DATES.. HE'S LIEING RIGHT IN THE E-MAIL ABOUT THE DAY WE CHECKED OUT. WHAT DOES THAT SAY RIGHT THERE?!

8. Vacation rental property not available upon arrival

We booked a rental property in Marina Del Ray over a month in advance of our planned vacation in the LA area. Upon arrival at LAX, as instructed, we called International Vacation Homes. Travel to coordinate meeting someone at the property to check in. Only then were we informed that the property was overbooked and not available for our stay. We found a hotel in the area on our own while we tried to contact someone at International Vacation Homes. Travel to resolve the problem. We finally received a call back the next morning. However, 24 hours after our arrival in LA International Vacation Homes. Travel, a subsidiary of California Classic Properties, claimed that they could not find a comparable replacement property. We are out a substantial amount for the added cost of staying in a hotel for four nights and International Vacation Homes. Travel at this point has refused to compensate us for the hassle and additional costs we have had to incur. Phone calls and repeated messages were not returned promptly. And the company's response has been they is little they can do and they're not in a position to reimburse us for the added cost of nearly $1,500 they caused. Don't rent a vacation property in the LA area through this company: www.internationalvacationhomes.travel

9. fraud/scam artist

This person who I found on vacationrentals.com tried to rent us and accepted a deposit from us (via paypal) for a property she did not own. Only when the Venice FL police became involved and ready to charge her with theft/fraud did she return our funds. vacation rentals removed her from their site. now she is back on that site on a different property and they won't remove her as it is "another address".

this woman threatened us, verbally abused us, and also the real owner of the property (whose pictures she used).

so my compaint is two fold.... one against Kim Hardesty and the other is the website.... www.vacationrentals.com - why are they not protecting propective renters! when they know this problem.
