1. Lakeside Magic - Crescent Lakes

We rented this home from 3/4/08 to 3/13/08 in good faith.
I received a letter once home, saying they charged us for damages and losses that occurred during our stay which ABSOLUTELY DID NOT! Neither this woman (who resides in England) nor her property management team ((Trelis Vacation Homes- Trevor - 407-931-2291) can supply me with any photos of what they are insisting happened during our stay. We were 4 adults renting and my father (age 82) went into kidney failure upon our arrival to this home. We spent all of our time at the Osceola Medical Center, not at the house. What these people are doing is pretty low. My credit card has already been charged for $195 for a bathroom mug they say is missing (imagine!) $80 for a blind we supposedly destroyed and $30 for a pool netting panel. NONE OF THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED! I wish to prevent others from being taken advantage of by these people in the future. My complaint is with both the owner and the property management company who handled things. I wonder how many people they have ripped off already.

2. Brian Harp of BLH Property Management refuses to refund

In January 2009 we booked and paid for a condo rental in Tampa, FL for mid March 2009 that was listed on VacationRentals411.com by Brian Harp as property manager. Brian confirmed the rental via email on 2/1/09. On 3/11 Brian emailed me our contact info for our 3/13 arrival. Forty-five minutes later Brian sent another email saying there was a terrible mistake, and that the condo is currently booked thru the end of the month and that we were out of luck. He apologized and said he would send us a full refund. He is no longer answering his phone, nor is he responding to emails, and we have not received our refund. I have found that he has done this to others. As of 4/1, all of his listings (78 of them) have been pulled from VacationRentals411's site. DO NOT RENT THRU THIS INDIVIDUAL!!

3. Do Not Use VacationHomes.com (Scams all Over)

Here is an email I sent to VacationHomes.com today. I found multiple fake listings while looking for less than 10 minutes today. I called VacationHomes.com, but we directed to a voicemail each time. This site is absolutely bogus. Do not rent a home on there.

I am with Five Star Beach Properties in Destin, Florida. We received a concern from a guest who saw a 'cloned property' on your website at a 1/5 of the price. Someone has stolen our property information and photos and created a listing here:

http://www.vacationhomes.com/Luxurious+Beach+Front+Living-30534
http://www.vacationhomes.com/Destin+Exculsive+Villa-30529
This is also fake- http://www.vacationhomes.com/Luxurious+Beach+Front+Home-30526
This is also fake- http://www.vacationhomes.com/Brand+New+Gulf+Front+home-30538

You will see Casa Blanca on our website here: http://www.fivestargulfrentals.com/property.aspx?PropertyID=16

We tried calling both numbers listed and did not get a person. Please remove this listing. I do not know if there are any other of our properties that have been copied, but you probably should remove. I am forwarding all of this information to www.vrwd.org. If you guys can't control your website I am going to let everyone know not to use it. I am also sending this to the BBB.

4. Beware of OFFMAR, LLC

I paid $5400 to Jeff Glovsky of OFFMar, LLC for a Miami Beach vacation rental for the month of February; $2700 for the rent, $2700 for the Security Deposit. He has many listings on Craigslist. I have it in writing from him that we "..left the unit in better condition than we found it." Jeff Glovsky has acknowledged that he owes us our full deposit back. Our contract states it was to be returned 15 days after vacating the unit - i.e., March 15, 2010. Yet today it is May 30, 2010 and Jeff Glovsky has offered us nothing but 5 bounced checks. When I demanded a cashier's check he promised to send one a number of times and I have e-mails stating that these checks were in the mail. Yet nothing was ever sent, nothing ever showed up. I am still waiting for my money.

Please beware in renting from OFFMAR!!!

5. International Vacation Home Travel

We are the home owner's writing this complaint about IVH. The CEO Sean contacted our manager Mr. Y. Hassin and said this is an emergency rental for a wealthy family from Mexico.

We made preparations and even allowed the family to place 30 pieces of luggage in our home.

But after pressuring IVH to pay the money before we allow the guest to fully check in - IVH cancelled at the last moment.

We aren't sure if IVH was scamming us and or their guest family but they never did pay and follow through with their commitments.

6. Nice House, but Beware of Owner

A few weeks after our stay, I received a check for $70 and a copy of an invoice from the maintenance department for $230 for screen repair. The screens were not damaged by me or my group. One of our group mentioned to me that as he walked around the outside of the house during our stay, he noticed that the screens looked loose, but he didn't feel it needed attention, so we did not report it. After receiving the check, I asked the member of my group to call and explain the situation to Dennis Kerames (home owner). After a few weeks, I still did not receive the money, so I called Dennis and left a message, but I did not hear back him. Then, I sent an email to Karen Kerames (home owner) describing the events that had already occurred. She responded back with a slightly different story, than Dennis' story, about how they found out that the screens were in need of repair. Dennis said the outside maintenance crew noticed the screens were loose, but Karen said that the renters who came in after us notified her that the screens were loose. At this point, I am thinking something doesn't sound right. I have houses before and never had any security deposit money withheld. I am a very good renter with a history of great rental experience. I rented a house last year in Orlando from Curtis Waterman, through VRBO. Curtis was surprised that I left his house in such GREAT condition. I left the Kerames' house in the exact same GREAT condition as I received it. They are asking me to pay for a repair that I had nothing to do with. I am still trying to my remaining $230 mailed to me. It's a nice house, but asking a renter to pay the owner's upkeep is not fair.

7. Nice house - too bad the owner is dishonest and rude

NO RETURN OF DEPOSIT, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

We were so excited to find this property. Before our arrival, I spoke to the owner, Scott, on the phone several times. He was friendly and helpful. When we arrived at the house, the first thing we noticed was the odor of cigarette smoke. The home has clearly been smoked in. This wasn't a huge issue for us, we were still excited about our weekend in the house. Throughout our stay, we noticed several minor issues; the hot tub wouldn't heat, the "chef's dream" kitchen was missing several utensils that we needed for basic meal prep, and the crab net we were promised was nowhere to be found. We called the owner a few times to see if he could help us with the hot tub or the crab net, and received no response. We weren't too upset at the time. Before we left, we sprayed down all surfaces, vacuumed, deflated and folded his air mattress, washed and folded all sheets, washed and put away all dishes, and took out all trash... We even took several bags to a public dumpster because the houses' curbside trash can was full when we arrived.

The real problems began after we got home. Days went by, with no contact from Scott regarding return of deposit. Finally, a week later, I called at left a voicemail. Several days later, I received a short e-mail stating that the cleaning fee was $105, and he had an issue with an air compressor that had been left on and blown a hose... "not a big deal", in his words. He promised a followup call the following afternoon.

Fast forward a month. Yes, that's 30 days. I received a rude e-mail from Scott, claiming that the deposit would not be returned due to the $110 (that's up $15 from his first e-mail), a broken air mattress, and a nearly-ruined air compressor. I believe the exact wording was "Tell whoever left my air compressor on that they're lucky" it was fixed. The compressor had not been used during our stay, we tried to turn it on but it wasn't functioning. We called him that evening to find out about the cleaning fee change and air compressor issue. When asked about the change in cleaning fee, Scott became belligerent and began yelling and cursing, accusing us of leaving "s*** on the toilet" and leaving the house a terrible mess. He was obviously upset that he had been caught in a lie. Later that evening, he sent me an e-mail stating that the only other renters he's had trouble with were a group of bikers and a group of "towel heads". I was shocked and appalled at his racism and vulgarity.

I am very disappointed to report that this owner is extremely dishonest and unprofessional. My family had planned to see if the house was available to rent for several weeks in the spring, but needless to say, those plans have changed.

8. Bed Sheet Scam

We rented a villa from http://www.tropicalhomesofcostarica.com over the holidays. Even though we were warned about the bed sheet scam that http://www.tropicalhomesofcostarica.com pulls we decided to take a chance. We made a mistake. During the last day of our stay they came to us saying we spilt wine on the bed sheets even though no food or drink was ever in the room. They went on to say that the sheets were $150 and even though they were a year old they were still going to charge us the full amount. I looked in the closets and found many other bed sheets and pillows that were never used by us with red spots on them. As of today they charged us double ($300) and it doesn't look like we will see a penny back. STAY AWAY FROM TROPICALHOMESOFCOSTARICA.COM AS THEY WILL SCAM YOU LIKE THEY SCAMMED US AND NUMEROUS PEOPLE BEFORE US!

9. traveltogo scammers!!

My wife and I were getting ready to retire and decided that we would like to do a lot of traveling as we have never had the time to do it before. In order to get the best deal we thought we would join one of those "vacation clubs" as we have heard some good things about them. We attended this company called traveltogo and they were talking about how we can get this amazing luxury resorts for just a fraction of the prices that anyone else could ever give, some even up to 80% off. Sounds like a great deal so we ended up buying the club and putting down $3000 cash as the first part of the payments. We felt we would easily save this much with all of the different trips that we would be taking at these promised huge savings.

DO NOT use Traveltogo.com!!! About a month after purchasing we decided to book our first trip to Mexico and wanted to stay at the same resort that they had used in the examples at the presentation we had attended. When trying to book first of all we were treated very rudely over the phone because we didn't remember our member number. Once we got that part straightened out, obviously the customer rep was just having a bad day, or so we thought. They then asked as to where we wanted to go and we told them to the Mexican resort that was used in the example presentation, they told us it was not available and that we had to pick something else. This already seemed strange as we are not supposed to have any "blackout" dates. We said ok let's try another this time they said it was available but when they quoted the rate I nearly fell of the chair, it was over $1200 a week more then anything that we had been able to find on our own at the same resort. So much for saving money. When we complained and asked for a supervisor we were told they were busy and we would have to be called back. Well that never happened, when we complained more and requested a refund were again ignored. We were starting to see that his is a scam company and we were going to be out our $3000 downpayment for a useless travel program. Travel to go scam is a horrible company and I would recommend in staying away from them! Further research showed that they have several FTC, BBB and even Legal Filings against them! Travel to go ripoff is a horrible company and I am shocked that they can still continue to operate as they seem to do nothing but rip people off! Needless to say we have filed our own lawsuit against this horrible company however it's probably just going to be another lost cause like all the others. How does this company stay in business when they are ripping people off, everyday?
Stay way from travel to go scam it's a complete ripoff and they will take your money with no product like they promise!

10. Scam on vacation home

The owner took $500 deposit and one night before said the house is no longer available. When asked for the deposit, shut down the phone and does not answer calls.
