1. Movie House Vacation Rental

We contacted the number listed to reserve a house in Las Vegas, Nevada. The problem started immediately. They quoted us a price of $496 including the $100 non refundable cleaning deposit. After the receipt of the payment they told us the price did not include the cleaning deposit and that we had to send them an additional $500 deposit plus 100 cleaning. We had not choice as the reservation was not cancellable. They refused to take any credit cards or PayPal.

They called us the night before and advised us that they had double booked the home we were in and they wanted to move us further from the strip. We agreed so long as we were not charged any extra and asked them to shut the pool heater off because we did not want to pay any extra. They agreed.

When we arrive our code did not work. After resolving that issue the garage door closure had exploded all over the floor, the wall and the garage floor leaving a nasty grease odor. Additionally the house was 85 degrees and the cooler was not working.

The owner arrived at MIDNIGHT unannounced looked at all the grease but did not even bother to clean it up. Then he was rude about fixing the AC unit. We were left to clean up their mess.

When we left we cleaned the house and left it in better shape then it was when we arrive. They have advised me that they are holding by $500 deposit because the pool heater was on too high. They left the pool heater on, not us. Not one of us their touched it or even knows where to look. We had no lease agreement in reference to a pool because we did not rent a property with a pool they moved us because of an error on their part. Moreover, WE NEVER touched it.

There is a lot more to this but you asked for brief.

3. Mini-Castles are overpriced track homes that are not worth the money!

Mini-Castles are overpriced track homes that are not worth the money!
I rented this home for my friends and I during our last convention. First off I was informed by the woman that rented me the place that it was close to the strip, and it was less than 1 mile to Las Vegas Blvd, BUT what she didn’t say was that it was 7 miles out of town and in the boonies. (Here is the address for you to look up on Google maps. 208 East Levi Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89123 http://maps.google.com/ Please look at the satellite and drive by prior to renting any rental. It took over 49 min to drive 10.8 miles to the Sands Convention center. We spent most of our time driving to and from the convention but that wasn’t the worst of it…). The homes were oversized track homes with no yard or landscaping to speak of but that is not my complaint. The woman billed the property as a mansion and the “nicest home in Vegas” and was charging $2500 a night. I looked online and found no complaints so I booked a week. As we arrived at the property it was dirty, dingy and disgusting. We ended up having to buy our own sheets and blankets (It was like staying a grandma’s house but not in a good way.) This was not a good place or value. BTW I think that she lives in the home at the end of the court watching people on hidden video cameras. I would highly recommend that anyone considering renting here DON’t.
