We were told there was a front loader LG washer and dryer (e-mail communication October 11, 2009). Upon arrival we were told there had been a mistake and the washer and dryer would be installed at another date. The date continued to be postponed, as did the housekeeping that was to be provided every two weeks. We arrived January 4 and did not see the housekeeper until February 11. We were scheduled to stay January through March. In February the owner decided not to install the washer/dryer, probably because of a plumbing problem the plumber mentioned when he came to handle our problem, but stated in an e-mail (February 5, 2010) that she would refund $1300 for the month of March. She confirmed this again in an e-mail February 12 and stated that the refund would be paid after we left through Paypal. This did not happen. When we tried to check on this we received an e-mail on March 13 stating that we would not be getting a refund and that she had no obligation to do so. She continued by stating that having dealt with the courts in the area (as a paralegal) she was confident she would prevail. Our only option is small claims court which would require trips to Texas and, upon a judgement in our favor, would also require us to collect the money from this owner. This hardly seems likely since she did not pay the refund she had promised in the e-mail communications which she had previously indicated would stand up in court as a contract.
