Not so “Classic” Cape Cod, -beware-
In Orleans MA, near Rock Harbor, there is a rental listed as “Classic Cape Cod”, the layout of the house is fine, the location is perfect, the condition is un-rentable.
At first we thought the house had just not been rented in a long time and just needed a quick touch up, we quickly discovered that the owner obvious does not use a cleaning service, we had to fully clean one bathroom and the other one we just closed the door and did not use it. There are several places where the paint is peeling and there is mold. The game tables, which are to dirty or broken to play, are located in...

Fraud in St. George
Inquired on listing from VRBO. Was told property was available for Thanksgiving weekend 2011. Sent check for $600. It was cashed and we were e-mailed confirmation of date. 2 weeks prior to vacation, we were told they had double-booked. They tried pushing us into a smaller home (2 bathrooms for 16 people.) We asked for a refund. They said they would, but have not set it 1 month later. Will no longer return e-mail.

Deposit return
After cancelling rental agreement (agreed to by owners) they have refused to answer phone calls and have blocked my e-mail messages as to the refund of monies sent them to hold the reservation. It has been more than 30 days (as per agreement).
They advertise home sleeps 6 but they charge high fees for any more than 2 people and are not flexible when it comes to an overnight guest....Hard to deal with...I am still waiting to hear from them. They will not return your phone calls choosing to communicate by e-mail when it suits them. If you choose to rent from them..be careful what you...

scam in Isla Verde Puerto Rico beware of Juliann Smith Arroyo
In march 2010 we rented an apt in Isla Verde Pr from this lady. for xmas of that year. When time was approaching for the rental I tried to contact her with any luck. After many search I found complaints of other customers to whom she had scam also. As she would not answer my mail or telephone calls, my sister call showing interest in the apt. It was that way that I was able to make contact with her, and she said that she had forgotten about our reservation. I have al the mails to prove of the money sent and received via pay pal. As up today she still owes 236.00 to us. I has been...

Casa Conde Mexico City is a scam
Although Jacobo and Jorge advertise themselves as excellent hosts of a "unique" and "trendy" home away from home, in reality their service is more like a neglected hostel. Their image online and their actual service do not match.
On their website they advertise their home as a luxurious accommodation with the Disco Huichol room priced at $90 USD a night. I paid $70 a night for a week. What I walked into was an old dusty home that hadn't been cleaned. There were dishes piled in the grease-stained kitchen. There wasn't toilet paper in my room. The floors were dirty so that even...

Listing amounts to fraud
We stayed in the house for Thanksgiving week 2011, and found this VRBO listing to be an almost-total fabrication and our vacation ruined.
(1)"Beautifully and tastefully furnished”—furniture is stained/threadbare, a collection from local garage sales.(2)“Completely updated/renovated”—obviously no maintenance or updates in years. Looks like an abandoned house. (3)"New stainless steel appliances”—appliances are old, dishwasher does not work, microwave taped together, a sign posted said use of the disposal would cause a plumbing back-up. (4)“Elegantly landscaped”—yard is covered with...

Scam-took my money and does not own house. spoke with owner and home is not for sale or rent.
This guy is claiming to own this home, he actually did until they foreclosed on him in October. He has you put half the money for the rent in his bank account, and then you never hear from him again. I spoke to the company who owns the home, GRE devolpment Inc. and the home is not for sale or rent, for the record the new owner had no idea this was going on until i let them know about it.

the Castle on St. John- BEWARE
This is a property that has no windows or doors on the kitchen or livingroom of the home (of course, nothing on the website or any of the rental company listings mention this) The open-air design is extremely problematic with pests and bugs on the island, staying dry, severe wind gusts on top of the mountain etc. The wind was so strong neither of us were able to sleep since arrival. We couldn't cook because the wind blew out the burner flames on the stove. We can't be in the kitchen or livingroom because of rain blowing in. The wind gusts cause the house to rattle, both in the tower and the...

Not accurately represented, not well maintained
Our group of 18 recently stayed at this rental home, July 31st through August 7th 2011. We are a group of friends that have been vacationing together for over twenty years, renting vacation homes in different parts of the country. This home is in a great location, the lake is beautiful and we really enjoyed our time on the lake. We rented two boats from Iguana Water Sports which was nearby. We highly recommend them if you are looking to rent boats or wave runners. Their equipment is fantastic and their customer service is even better!
We feel this home was not...

Online Cottage Rental
Canada is an expansive and beautiful country and many Canadian property owners, from Vancouver to Prince Edward Island, have a variety of questions on how to make the most of their property and earn extra income through rentals or selling opportunities, as well as require assistance in spreading their advertising message online and promoting the features their home has to offer.
The concept for OnlineCottageRental.com has been created with the needs of Canadian property owners and renters in mind. Recently launched at www.onlinecottagerental.com, the site aims to promote and connect property owners across Canada with renters, tourists, vacationers, visitors and real estate shoppers the world over in the hopes of spurring interest in Canadian tourism, helping local economies in all Canadian provinces and providing a user friendly portal that allows Canadian property owners to showcase and highlight their property online.
