Filthy home and infested with ants.
My family of 6 recently stayed at this rental home and had problems from the minute we stepped in the door. This home, touted as a "Luxurious Courtyard Beach Home" was anything but. There were ants in several of the rooms but most notably the kitchen where they were under the sink and in several of the cabinets. It was disgusting and we had to clean all of the silverware, pots, pans, plates, and cups. This is not to mention the fact that the house was not clean, especially the downstairs living area. Dishonest renter/ Dirty beach house
Property not as described. Looked forward to this holiday stay unfortunately not here (stayed 10 minutes) Mould on shower curtain, unclean presentation with dust and general dirt, fridge full of previous tenants half eaten food.
Immediately contacted the owner, Raquel Beer by telephone who confirmed she would refund our money. ( We had to find alternative accommodation at extra cost) This has not happened and she refuses to return any of our attempts to contact her. Classic Cottages - Kaiui, Hawaii
WARNING !!!
The house was not as advertised. The furnishings were trashy, the place was not clean, and the pictures on the website were misleading. The owner, Chris Webster, was a real jerk.
When we refused to stay there, he would not refund the rent we had paid him. When we said we were going to call the authorities, he beat us to the punch, called the police and accused me of "trashing" the house. He said we littered the lanai with food cartons, etc. and that we tore curtains and a screen on a sliding glass door to the lanai.
In fact, the curtains were dry...

Hightower House
On 7/14/09, my family and I traveled 6 hours to Hiawassee, Ga. for our annual family vacation with two other families. Upon our arrival at Hightower house, we were greeted by spiders, cobwebs and a musty, mildew odor. The spiders & cobwebs were everywhere. Every doorway had cobwebs blocking them. The ceiling of the downstairs staircase had spiders crawling on it. The master bath tub had spiders crawling in it & the jacuzzi jets had mildew surrounding them. "Arts & Crafts" House in Godalming, Surrey, UK
Of the "sleeps 5" listed, two beds were in the attic, accessible only with serious effort, through a vertical wall-mounted ladder that led to a hole in the ceiling. (This was deceptively called "a cleverly designed stair" in the listing.) One of these beds was a trundle that could not have been pulled out without virtually dismantling the portable closet. This room was unsafe (due to unshielded hole in floor) even after we purchased multiple nightlights for it (no refund for those.)
HW boiler for dishwashing etc. worked very rarely throughout one-week stay. Promised Internet...

Beware of Mr. Abott
Transferred USD 1075 for the above rental to "Mr. Abotts" accountant - Ristawati Djakaria, at Washington Mutual Bank,Seattle, on 14/5/08. Mr. Abbott failed to confirm receipt of deposit. Contact numbers had been temporarily disconnected. Eventually he emailed to say transfer had not been received, the apartment was still available and he would think of another way to get the deposit from me. As naive as I was, I suggested credit card - his response was that his merchant account was temporarily not functioning !!. I have not heard from him since then and had to book other accommodation....

Gave rental to another family - after give credit card for a deposit
We called to reserved over the phone 3day weekend - AX card was given - to reserve. We then had problem getting a hold of the leasing agent - actually no calls for 1 week - we were advised today (8days later) it has been given to another family since they were staying a week vs our 3days - this is ethically wrong!!!!

Stranded in Hollywood Florida
We arrived at the condominium only to be told by the staff at the building that unit owners were not permitted to rent the units on a weekly basis and we were asked to leave the premises. We were further told that the condo was in foreclosure. We were without accommodation and spent the rest of the first day of our vacation finding a hotel. We spent most of the second day of our vacation trying to get our deposit money orders back - which we did. Upped rate after deposit was given
I saw this vacation home from Patrick Blunt on a well-known website and made an inquiry. I put in 8 people as the number of guests. He publishes on his website that his home sleeps up to 12 people. When we spoke through e-mail he quoted me an early booking rate of $1065.00. When I decided to book we had several family members undecided if they could come. I decided to give him a $300.00 deposit and fill out a rental agreement. On the agreement you have to fill out total number of guests, which I put a( ?) in the field.
