Bed Bugs and difficult property manager in Fajardo
We stayed at Homeaway Property #22065 in Puerto Rico at the beginning of June. The property manager, Lizzie, was 45 minutes late with the keys when we arrived. By the 2nd day we realized the "pink room" has a serious bed bug problem. When we complained to Lizzie via email, she came by the property with no warning the following day. Though 2 of the guests were covered in bed bug bites (we have photo evidence), she denied there being any problem and blamed the ocean bugs (though none of the other guests had bites, and when the bitten guests moved to sleep in the living room there were no...

FILTHY, MISREPRESENTED AND TOO FAR OUT OF THE WAY
This home is listed on several vacation sites: VRBO and homeaway.com
The pictures show a well taken care of home. Their claims and pics are a misrepresentation of the truth. The furniture shown is not what's in the house. The sofa is broken down and is sitting on phone books and pieces of wood to hold it up. When we arrived it was grossly filthy. We worked for three hours to clean it. I had to plunge the bathtub for 15 minutes and pull out large globs of "hair" to make it habitable. The cleaning "crew" left laundry in the washer and dryer. They had washed the bathroom rugs with the...

They never will leave you - they too addicted to your money...
I rented an average studio apt at 209 North Ft. Lauderdale Beach Blvd, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33304 nine years ago. It was very bad time for US - when 9/11 happened. I rented it from David Shwaery and Clifford Cone (on 11 floor)- for7 months and all 7 months payed top dollar for their empty, average, with dirty wall studio, when no one could pay no rent - economy went dramatically down and people lost their jobs...
Next door, in same building, people were renting marble floor, with great furniture apts for twice less than I payed to these guys - I was sending them every month to RI...

PRETTY JOE ROCK, MARATHON, FL. ISLAND RENTAL
I tried to cancel my reservation 2 days prior to our arrival date because of needed emergency cardiac catheterization. I knew that cancellation policy wouldn't allow this, but I was hoping that the owner would have some compassion. I asked to select another date after the catheterization, and the owner would not permit it. They offered me another house in Marathon for the same time frame, but the problem wasn't with the rental, it was with the time. Since the owner wouldn't allow me to change dates or cancel, we went on the vacation to avoid loosing nearly $3500. I scheduled the...

Pied-a-terre condo near Washington D.C.
We requested a 2 bedroom. We were told that one was available and we double checked the pics online before we booked it. We arrived to find that they had us in a 3 bedroom (but closed off the 3rd bedroom) and the place was gross. We scrubbed mildew/mold off the wall, the bathrooms smelled, the kitchen cabinets were sticky, the whole place smelled musty. During our stay the door to the balcony broke and we weren't able to access it. We called but it was never fixed. The whole place is old, run down, smelly, and dirty. Now we've contacted the owner to get our damage deposit back and...

Very bad stay at a cabin
We had a very bad stay here. First of all we had had a group of 13, 5 adults and 8 children ranging in age from 11 to 16. The cabin was set up for ten adults which was fine we brought blankets and sleeping bags for the extra people. We had explained to the owner that we had this many people before we even agreed on a price. The very second the owner pulls up to Take our money she is very mean and disrespectful about the number of people in our group but she takes our money.we had agreed on a stay of three nights July 18, 19, 20th 2010. after our very bad first impression the guys in the...

Akaka Falls: Sweeping Ocean View & Horseback Riding = Ruined Vacation
The advertisement for this place is very misleading and the place was not a safe environment for anybody to stay in. Multiple times on the advertisement it says that this place is clean, but it turned out to be the filthiest place instead. Spent 4 hours of vacation time just to make it somewhat livable by fixing and cleaning up the place. Below is a list of problems with this vacation rental.
1. Door lock did not work
2. Door installation fell every time it was opened
3. No telephone or any other way to communicate to the...

Aurora House, Orcas Island, misleading
Their website used to have a misleading picture, not taken from the property, that gave you the impression that you were next door to a beach and that it was " . . easy to launch kayaks from . . ." This was the primary reason we rented the house. We complained that both the picture and the discription were misleading. The owners have said they did nothing wrong and refused us a reasonable partial refund. They have since dropped the picture and discription. The house is fine but the owners were uncooperative.
